A chimney is a device used for venting smoke or hot flue gases coming from a boiler, furnace, fireplace or stove, to the outside atmosphere. These devices are usually vertical or near to vertical. The vertical shape of these devices ensure that gases flow smoothly through them. The space inside the device is known as flue. These devices are usually used in commercial settings, residential buildings, factories, steam locomotives and ships. The height of these devices plays an important role in properly transferring the flue gases. Dispersing the pollutants at higher atmospheric altitude helps to lower the influence of the pollutants on surroundings. The venting devices used for industrial purposes are known as flue gas stacks. Further, electric chimneys are used in commercial and residential kitchens. http://amplify.com/u/a1fncx
