Kumagawa extractor is a laboratory apparatus, which is quite similar to Soxhlet extractor. This instrument is widely used in the petrochemical industry for hydrocarbon mixtures. It is primarily used for extracting bitumen. This instrument has several advantages over Soxhlet extractor. It can be used at a much higher temperature. It can be used for extracting compounds with higher melting points. Also it is less bulky as compared to Soxhlet extractor. The apparatus has a cartridge in its flask holder. Few advanced features of this high end laboratory instrument are:

A flask having variable capacity and featuring standardized ground stopper

A flask holder containing a cartridge holder

A Vigreux condenser http://amplify.com/u/a1c2is
