Nickel oxide(NiO) is a chemical compound with density 6.67g/cm3, melting Point 1984°C and molar mass 165.39g/mol. It can be produced by heating nickel powder above 400 °C. Nickel reacts with oxygen to produce NiO. Also, it can be prepared through pyrolysis of Nickel (II) compounds. NiO is obtained as a black or green crystalline powder. The compound adopts a rock salt structure similar to that of NaCl. Nickel oxide has a wide range of industrial applications including:

Used in ceramic industry for manufacturing ferrites, frits and porcelain glazes.

Used as transparent electrodes

Used in the Nickel-iron battery

Used as catalysts and specialty chemicals http://amplify.com/u/a1ahmp
